A Pillow Masterpiece


The Cinema Center shows "The Pillow Book" on Tuesday, Peter Greenaway's 1995 film about a Chinese woman who, having read a 10th-century diary of a lady-in-waiting, grows up obsessed with books, papers and writings on bodies. The film shows in English with Russian subtitles at 6:30 p.m. in the Small Hall of the center at 15 Druzhinnikovskaya Ulitsa. Tickets cost 50 rubles ($3.12). Tel. 205-7306. Mars Rock


See "Is There Life on Mars?" showing Tuesday at the Stanislavsky Drama Theater. A one-man show by Pyotr Mamonov, an avant-garde rock musician and eccentric actor, is based on Anton Chekhov's play "The Proposal." The curtain time for the performance is 7 p.m. The theater is located at 23 Tverskaya Ulitsa. Tickets, starting at 20 rubles ($1.25), are available in theater box offices throughout the city. Plavinsky at Kino


The exquisite paintings and installations by Dmitry Plavinsky, a renowned artist now living in New York, are showing at the Kino Gallery at the Moscow Auction House.
