Unilever Sales Dive

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- Anglo-Dutch consumer products group Unilever said Wednesday that Russia's economic crisis has sent its sales there plunging "dozens of percentage points'' in the past month.

"Sales have certainly gone down in light of the financial troubles in Russia. It's gone down dozens of percentage points, but we don't know the exact number yet, as it's been only a month or so,'' a Unilever spokesman said.

He said that since Unilever's annual sales in Russia are about 500 million guilders ($256.4 million), or around 0.5 percent of total group sales, "the impact on our overall results will be limited.''
