MOSCOW -- Russia's opposition-dominated State Duma, the lower house of parliament, could be ready to press on with impeachment proceedings against President Boris Yeltsin next week, Communist speaker Gennady Seleznyov said Thursday.
He told a news conference that a Duma commission that has been drawing up an impeachment indictment for three months could agree on two charges by this weekend and submit them to the Duma business managers Tuesday. The chamber could debate the issue as early as next week, he added.
