Milos Forman Revisited


The Illuzion Cinema is showing films by Milos Forman this weekend. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) is a touching adaptation of Ken Kessey's novel about a two-bit crook who is sent to a mental hospital. Starring Jack Nicholson, the film shows in Russian at 3, 5 and 7 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, at 1 and 5 p.m., see "A Blonde in Love" (1965) about a shy teenage factory girl who falls in love with a visiting piano-player. The cinema is located at 1/15 Kotelnicheskaya Naberezhnaya. Outdoor Concerts


For the international "Music Without Borders and World Without Drugs" festival, local rock groups Alisa, Va-Bank, Chaif, Chizh & K and Tequilajazz are giving outdoor concerts every Saturday at the Taganka Park. The festival runs through August from 2 to 11 p.m. at 40/42 Taganskaya Ulitsa. Admission is 20 rubles ($3.50). Tel. 272-3883. Nearest metro: Taganskaya or Marksistskaya.


A Bat at the Ball


Check out "Die Fledermaus," one of Johann Strauss' best- loved operettas. A Parisian lovelace becomes ensnared in the trap of his own wily wife. When she learns of her husband's infidelities, she finds him at a masked ball and -- unrecognizable behind her mask -- makes him fall in love with her.
