Afterlife Comedy

See the play "The Torchalov Passion" or "Strasti po Torchalovy" directed by acclaimed Russian director Lev Durov. The comedy by Nikita Voronov is about a politician who dies and in his afterlife meets other long-dead leaders in purgatory where theyhave to face their pasts. Species Returns

The film "Species II" (1998) is showing at Kodak Cinema World in English with Russian subtitles. Starring Natasha Henstridge and Michael Madsen, the sci-fi horror film is about the evils of alien DNA infecting human astronauts. Rated R. Rappers in Moscow

A rap festival, part of Streetball Challenge 1998, will be going on this weekend on Manezh Square. On Friday, Russian and Ukrainian rap groups perform, followed Saturday by Moscow rappers and American rap artist Coolio, best known for his "Gangsta's Paradise." Sunday the headliners are American rap veterans Run DMC. The concerts start at 7 p.m., while headliners start performing around 9 p.m. Admission is free. Nearest metro: Okhotny Ryad.
