German Banks Meet

FRANKFURT, Germany -- German banks met Friday to discuss the Russian crisis as Chancellor Helmut Kohl warned Russia there could be no question of more credit until further reforms were implemented.

Deutsche Bank AG hosted the bank talks in Frankfurt that sources said were aimed at finding a common position on Russia's debt restructuring plan due to be unveiled Monday.

One banking source who declined to be identified said the meeting aimed to "find a position that helps Russia while protecting the justified interests of the creditors."

The banks insisted that the terms for the 90-day moratorium on repayment of loans be eased, a spokesman for Deutsche Bank was quoted by Interfax as saying.
