Far East Flight Relived

Female pilots from Russia and the United States have repeated a legendary 1938 long-range flight by pioneering pilots Valentina Grizodubova, Polina Osipenko and Marina Raskova, the head of Russia's Women's Pilots Association said Tuesday.

Galina Korchuganova said two Americans and two Russians covered 8,000 kilometers to reach the remote Osipenko settlement in the Far East on Aug. 8 in a Russian An-2 aircraft and a U.S. built four-seater, departing July 27 from Moscow's Tushino Airport.
