The desperate-to-be-cool A-Club seems to be catching on to the

Thursday night Jazz Cafe thing: It has been promoting its Thursday acid jazz nights quite heavily for the past few months. Guest DJs have included Englishman Karla Kox. Now the A Club has upped the ante with free admission for ladies, Hungry Duck-style, until midnight. Friday nights feature DJ Larisa, one of Moscow's sexiest vinyl scratchers.

The bare-walled Respublika with its outdoor pub on charming Nikolskaya Ulitsa near Red Square has thrust its way into the clubbing spotlight with a series of fashion shows and special promos. Friday and Saturday nights are now packed with second-tier Jazz Cafe and first-tier Propaganda types, all boogeying to DJ Groove and others from Radio Maximum.
