Aid to Army Orphans

MOSCOW -- On behalf of military attaches accredited in Moscow, British diplomat Colonel Robin Greenham handed over 3,000 ($478) rubles to help the families of killed Russian servicemen.

Roughly 513,000 rubles and $83,000 collected during a June 1 charity concert will be transferred to 120 orphans and families in need.

Such actions bring nations and families of military servicemen closer together, Greenham was quoted as saying by Interfax. The ceremony was attended by the U.S., Romanian, French and Polish attaches on Tuesday.

The ceremony will be held annually on June 1, Protection of Children Day.
