Yeltsin Plans Vacation

MOSCOW (Reuters) -- President Boris Yeltsin is expected to take a vacation in about 10 days' time if Russia's economic situation permits, Interfax reported.

"On approximately July 14 or 15, the head of state will leave for the Shuiskaya Chupa residence, 15 kilometers from Petrozavodsk," the news agency said Sunday, quoting an unidentified source.

Yeltsin, 67, spent his summer holiday last year at the lakeside residence near Petrozavodsk, the regional capital of Karelia in Russia's northwest, 180 kilometers from the border with Finland.

A Kremlin spokesman declined to confirm the report, saying he had no official information on the president's holiday plans.
