A Miserable Remake


"Les Mis?rables" (1998), Bille August's version of Victor Hugo's novel, features a famous cast: Liam Neeson, Geoffrey Rush, Uma Thurman and Claire Danes. The film shows at 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, with additional 2 p.m. screenings Saturday and Sunday, at the Dome Theater at the Renaissance Olympic Penta Hotel, 18/1 Olimpiisky Prospekt. The film shows in English; Russian translation via headphones is available starting Friday. Tickets cost 60 rubles ($10), but are half price for women on Thursdays and students on Fridays. Canadian Concert


As part of the World Youth Music Forum currently in Moscow, the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra is performing the overture to Rossini's opera "Robert le Diable," Creston's Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra, Rimsky-Korsakov's Spanish Capriccio and Strauss' Waltz at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Conservatory Great Hall, 13 Ulitsa Bolshaya Nikitskaya. Tibetan-Style Jam


Check out the Tibetan-style music of Svyatoslav Ponomaryov and Alexei Tegin on Thursday. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at 18 Bolotnaya Ulitsa (through the arch from Faleyevsky Pereulok, left entrance at the old red brick factory). Admission is free. Nearest metro: Tretyakovskaya.
