Hockey Murder Case

MOSCOW -- The general prosecutor's office said it has filed charges against the six suspects in the murder of Russian Hockey Federation President Valentin Sych, Itar-Tass reported Thursday.

Assistant Prosecutor General Alexander Zvyagintsev said in remarks reported by the news agency that one man, Vyacheslav Pchelintsev, will be charged with committing the murder. The remaining five were identified by investigators as accomplices in the April 1997 murder, a suspected contract killing.

The suspects will soon appear in court, Zvyagintsev said Thursday. If convicted, Pchelintsev faces the death penalty or life in prison.
