Minsk Phenomena


Lyapis Trubetskoy, a stylish up-and-coming rock group from Minsk, which has snatched the spotlight in Moscow for its extravagant shows and intellectual lyrics, takes the stage Friday at the Bedniye Lyudi Club. The group, led by soloist Sergei Mikhalok, performs works from its latest album "You Betrayed Me" at 10:30 p.m. at 6/11 Chernigovsky Pereulok. Admission is 50 rubles($8.75). Tel. 231-3342. Classics Excellente


The Chamber Ensemble Excellente, led by artistic director and oboe soloist Yevgeny Nepalo, on Saturday performs Bach's Concerto for three violins, strings and harpsichord, Shostakovich's Concerto No.1 for piano, trumpet and string orchestra, and Haydn's Farewell Symphony. Music starts at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew's Anglican Church at 8 Voznesensky Pereulok. Tickets cost $25 (proceeds benefit restoration of the church, a historic landmark). Tel. 266-3928. Hitchcock's Vertigo


On Sunday, the Cinema Museum shows "Vertigo," Alfred Hitchcock's romantic story of obsession, manipulation and fear, starring James Stewart. The film shows in English with live Russian translation at 6 p.m. in Hall 7 of the museum at 15 Druzhinnikovskaya Ulitsa. Tickets cost 15 rubles ($2.50). Tel 255-9095.
