No Peace Corps Visas

MOSCOW -- The U.S. Peace Corps has postponed the arrival of 52 new volunteers to Russia because it has been unable to secure visas for them, the U.S. Embassy said Friday.

Peace Corps volunteers have had recurring visa problems since they began arriving in Russia following the breakup of the Soviet Union.

Steven Taylor, the Peace Corps director for western Russia, said Russian agencies had not agreed on how to grant multiple-entry, yearlong visas for the volunteers.
