Caspian Pipeline Study

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia agreed Friday to carry out a feasibility study on transporting Caspian Sea oil through Turkey, the Energy Ministry announced.

The decision was made during a technical meeting -- the first between the three countries -- that came after the endorsement of the project by Azeri President Heidar Aliyev on Sunday.

The sides agreed to complete a feasibility study for a 50 million-ton- capacity (7.1 million-barrel) oil pipeline running from the Azeri capital, Baku, to Turkey's Mediterranean port of Ceyhan in three months, the ministry said in a statement
