Arms Exports Control

MOSCOW -- Russia's security service can ensure control over the export of dual-use technologies that are prohibited under international treaties, the service's director said Wednesday.

Nikolai Kovalyov, the director of the Federal Security Service, said in a statement that his agency was "making strenuous efforts to prevent the illegal export of raw and other materials, equipment, know-how, and information and services that can be used for creating weapons of mass destruction and their delivery."

In the statement, Kovalyov pledged that violators would be punished, Interfax reported.
