Lithuania Air Dispute

VILNIUS, Lithuania -- Lithuania's small state-run airline is arguing with two European air-travel giants that it fears are trying to push it out of its own market.

Germany's Lufthansa and SAS -- the flag carrier of Sweden, Norway and Denmark -- both want to increase the number of their flights to Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital.

The demand for more flights from abroad can be seen as a sign of success for Lithuania. But it also appears threatening to state-run Lietuvos Avialinijos. "They want to push us out of the best flights," LAL director general Stasys Jarmalavicius was quoted as saying by the Baltic News Service on Friday.
