Slick Svalka
Vopli Vidoplyasova, Ukraine's hipster folk-rock group with the sexy vocalist Oleg Skripka, strikes again Thursday at Svalka, the new
Propaganda-like dance/live-music club with the car cross-sections that
might remind you of your high school days. Friday night features another funk/fusion Moscow group, Bakhat Compot. With its fan following of business-school grads and high-school tipplers, Svalka is jam-packed on the weekends, so come early.
Svalka. Cover: 80 rubles; Profsoyuznaya 27/1; 128-7823; 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; M. Profsoyuznaya.
Electronic Oxygen
You raved at Ptyuch and the Water Club in your teens. You stuffed your wardrobe with electric-blue tank tops and psychedelic
minis, and draped X-large shades over your head. Now you're older and more refined. You party at the mellow rave spot, Oxygen, which is more black and white than ravish. Lots of earth colors and acid jazz instead of techno. Friday night features DJ Groove and Lush, some of Moscow's best spinners; also fashion shows on Saturday with young designers.
Oxygen. Cover: 50 rubles before 11 p.m., 100 rubles after; 28 Prospekt Mira; 280-6779; 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.; M. Prospekt Mira.
