Swedes to Seek Pair

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Sweden is sending two diplomats to Dagestan in southern Russia to try to boost efforts for the release of two Swedish missionaries who were kidnapped 11 weeks ago.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Jens Olander said Friday that Moscow had agreed to Swedish officials from the embassy in Moscow traveling to the region to seek the release of Daniel, 22, and Paulina Brolin, 23.

"We plan to travel soon, but a firm date has not set," Olander said.

Previous attempts by staff from the Swedish Foreign Ministry to travel to the region have been canceled for security reasons.

The couple were abducted Jan. 8.
