Sweden Expelled Spies

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Sweden quietly expelled two spies in 1997, at least one of whom was from Russia, the Swedish news programRapport said Monday, citing the Swedish security police's annual operations report.

The security police chief Anders Ericsson was quoted by Rapport as saying the details are still classified, but Rapport said both of the spies were from Eastern Europe. At least one of them was from Russia, the news program said.

According to police's annual report, about 10 countries have intelligence personnel stationed in Sweden.
