Woman Held In Mafia Death

MARBELLA, Spain -- Spanish police have arrested a woman suspected of being behind the weekend killing of a Russian described as a mafia boss, sources familiar with the case said Tuesday.

Officials did not release the suspect's name, but the daily El Mundo identified her as the 53-year-old victim's estranged wife.

Roman Frumson, described by the media as a mafia godfather on Spain's Costa del Sol, was shot twice in the head Sunday as he slept in his Marbella villa.

Investigators believe the murder was related to a settling of scores or a crime of passion.

El Mundo said one of the couple's children had told police that he heard shots and then saw his mother leaving the victim's room.

The paper added that authorities suspect Frumson was running a high-class prostitution ring along the Spanish coast and was involved in money laundering.
