7 Held for Illegal Arms

MOSCOW -- Russian police have arrested seven people on suspicion of manufacturing and selling large amounts of arms in the Ural Mountains city of Ufa, a news agency reported Monday.

Newly manufactured guns and spare parts for them were confiscated during the operation, Itar-Tass said. It did not say when the arrests took place or how many weapons were involved.

The seven suspects worked at the Ufa engine-building plant, which produces engines for Russia's Su-27 warplanes, Itar-Tass said.
