FedEx Gets Japan Deal

TOKYO -- Japan's Nippon Express Co. said it has reached an agreement with America's Federal Express Corp. to form a wide-ranging alliance in international transport services.

Cooperation will begin in December when Nippon Express, Japan's largest shipper, starts using FedEx's international delivery service now linking 120,000 cities worldwide, Nippon Express spokesman Koichi Ohori said Monday.

The linkup will include joint use of parcel collection points and other facilities around the world, Ohori said.

Under the agreement, FedEx, America's second-largest shipping company, and Nippon Express will also share information systems to track cargo deliveries, Ohori said.
