2 Arrested for Drugs

MOSCOW (AP) -- Police arrested two suspected drug traffickers carrying 300 kilograms of marijuana through central Russia, Itar-Tass reported Tuesday.

The suspects, from the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan, were detained at a railway station in the Chelyabinsk region, 1,500 kilometers east of Moscow, the news agency reported.

The report didn't say when the arrests took place. Criminal proceedings have been launched against the suspects, Itar-Tass said, citing local police.
