$133M Aid From EU

BRUSSELS, Belgium -- The European Union has signed an agreement to grant Russia 112.2 million ecus ($132.5 million) over the next three years for 30 joint projects in eight key sectors.

The European Commission, - the EU's executive arm - said it was also granting a further 10.85 million ecus ($12.81 million) to help Azerbaijan rebuild its economic infrastructure.

The 15-nation EU will finance training schemes for staff in the Russian public and private sector and provide technical assistance for enterprises in areas such as food production and energy. EU-Russian joint ventures will be targeted.
