Kyrgyzstan Gets Loan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan -- South Korea has decided to lend Kyrgyzstan $12 million to modernize the telecommunications network in Chui region, Kyrgyz officials said Monday.

The loan will be extended for 30 years with an annual interest rate of 2 percent and a 10-year delay of payment, an official in the Cabinet press service said. Under the loan, outdated analog telephone exchanges will be replaced with digital ones and telephone lines will be brought into in isolated areas.
