Russians' Case Delayed

AJMAN, United Arab Emirates -- A United Arab Emirates court Wednesday adjourned the appeal of three Russians found guilty of murder to allow one of the condemned men to undergo psychiatric tests.

Anatoly Samoilenkov, Russian Gerbekov and Ivan Tsiverkin are appealing the death sentences handed down last July for the April 1997 killing of fellow Russian national Alexei Alsin, who was fatally stabbed at his home.

But the hearing in the northern emirate of Ajman was adjourned until Dec. 23 for Tsiverkin to be examined by a psychiatrist, who will determine whether he is sane.
