Nuclear Plants' Woes

MOSCOW -- Russian nuclear power plants are operating at only one-third of their output of September 1997, because of a fuel shortage and delays in repairs, Interfax reported, citing a government source.

Nuclear power plants have run up a total debt of 300 million rubles (more than $18 million) with their main fuel providers, and their reserves have practically run out, the source said on Thursday.
