Missile Plans Firm

ATHENS, Greece -- Russia will not back off plans to ship anti-aircraft missiles to Cyprus despite Turkish threats of conflict on the divided island, the Russian defense minister said Tuesday.

But Igor Sergeyev refused to give a firm date for the arrival of the S-300 missiles, whose anticipated delivery has been delayed by several months.

Russia will "fulfill all obligations" concerning the sale and delivery of the missiles, Sergeyev said following a meeting with the Cypriot defense minister, Yiannakis Omirou, at a defense industry trade show.
