Businessman Dies

ST. PETERSBURG -- A prominent businessman has died from injuries suffered in a bomb explosion.

Dmitry Filippov, the 54-year-old president of the St. Petersburg Fuel Company, suffered severe fractures and burns when a powerful bomb ripped through his home in Russia's second-largest city. He underwent surgery soon after the explosion Saturday night, but died in the early hours Tuesday.

Two of Filippov's bodyguards, who were just steps behind their boss when the blast occurred, were injured but reported in satisfactory condition Tuesday.

The bomb was believed to be a radio-controlled device equivalent to 200 grams of TNT.
