Ship Limps to Port

VILNIUS, Lithuania -- An Estonian cargo ship in danger of capsizing after being caught in storm force winds off the coast of Lithuania headed into port after dumping almost half its cargo, maritime officials said Friday.

The winds had caused its cargo to slide to one side of the vessel, which was then forced to jettison around 40 percent of it to prevent a capsize.

The Baltic News Service said the ship had 12 crew on board and was bound for Britain after loading its cargo in the Latvian capital, Riga. It said the ship was carrying around 1,000 tons of timber.
