CIS Output Verdict

MOSCOW -- Industrial output rose sharply in Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Georgia during the first eight months of this year, according to statistics cited Friday by Itar-Tass.

The figures, compiled by the intergovernmental statistics bureau of the CIS, showed industrial production up 41.2 percent in Kyrgyzstan, 15 percent in Belarus, 12 percent in Georgia, 3.3 percent in Kazakhstan, 1.4 percent in Russia and 0.6 percent in Azerbaijan.

But industrial production declined 1.4 percent in Armenia, 3.4 percent in Ukraine, 8.9 percent in Tajikistan and 9.1 percent in Moldova. Figures for Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were unavailable, Itar-Tass said.
