Aluminum Plant Gets New Chief

Russia's Krasnoyarsk aluminum smelter, the world's second largest, said Monday it had appointed its former development director, Kornei Gibert, as chief executive.

A company statement said shareholders at an extraordinary meeting over the weekend also appointed Gennady Druzhinin, the acting general director whom Gibert replaces, as board chairman. The changes come after months of management and shareholder turmoil at the important Siberian plant.

Igor Vishnyevsky of Swiss-based Glencore, who was sacked from the post of general director earlier this summer a, was elected to the board. The statement said Dmitry Bosov of Britain's Trans-World Group metals trader had dropped his candidacy as board chairman.
