AC Milan Flops as Inter Soars

ROME -- Crisis club AC Milan was booed off its own pitch Sunday after losing 1-0 to Vicenza.

Arturo Di Napoli's 50th minute winner, scored directly from a free-kick and against the run of play, means Fabio Capello's side has yet to win a serie A match this season. It is AC Milan's worst start since the 1972-73 season.

Despite rebuilding its side at great expense over the close season, Milan, four-time champion in the last six seasons, languishes fifth from the bottom with two points from four matches.

Milan is already 10 points adrift of arch rivals Inter Milan, top with a maximum 12 points following Saturday's impressive 5-1 win at Lecce.

Ronaldo and Youri Djorkaeff scored two goals each in Inter's victory. Luigi Simoni's side has now won its first seven matches of the season -- four in the league, two in the Italian Cup and one in the UEFA Cup. Ronaldo, starting his first season in Italy, has scored five goals in five appearances.

Inter took the lead in Lecce through Djorkaeff who, with four goals, is also enjoying a fine early season.

Saturday's victory gave Inter a maximum 12 points, two more than Parma, which routed Udinese 4-0 earlier in the day, and four more than defending champion Juventus, which drew 1-1 at Sampdoria.

In the day's other match, Lazio scored twice in the final two minutes to steal a dramatic 3-2 victory at home to Bari.
