Abducted French Alive

n PARIS -- A French charity said it has received a video cassette showing four aid workers kidnapped last month in Russia's north Caucasus republic of Dagestan were alive.

"It's a great relief for us and for their families. We had not had any evidence so far that they were alive," Alain Michel, head of Lyon-based refugee aid group Equilibre, said on French radio Monday.

Michel said the cassette showed the four Frenchmen saying their names.

He said the film did not reveal where they were being held, and he did not indicate how the cassette reached him.

The four were kidnapped in Dagestan on Aug. 3.
