DIYARBAKIR, Turkey () -- Turkish security forces killed 60 Kurdish rebels in clashes in the southeast, the emergency rule governor's office said Monday.

A statement said 50 guerrillas, members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, were killed in operations in the far southeastern province of Hakkari, eight were killed in Siirt province and two in Diyarbakir.

Two members of the security forces were killed and three wounded in the operations which began Sunday night, it said.
