Red Square Bomb Scare

MOSCOW () -- Russian anti-terrorist units closed off part of Red Square for several hours Thursday afternoon after a telephoned bomb threat.

The unidentified caller phoned a Moscow emergency phone line around noon, saying a land mine was placed somewhere in the square and would detonate at 3 p.m., Interfax said.

Officers used dogs to search the square, and they closed off a large area in front of Lenin's mausoleum. They found no explosive devices, and the designated time passed without incident.
