Chernomyrdin's Wealth

MOSCOW () -- Prime Minister Viktor Chernomydrin, who some media reports have said has vast riches, on Thursday declared his personal wealth at $46,000, news agencies said.

In a declaration required by President Boris Yeltsin's recent anti-corruption drive, Chernomyrdin declared a 1996 income of 46 million rubles ($8,000), and overall property and other holdings worth 268 million ($46,000).

His main property holding is a country home near Moscow on 1,473 square meters of land, which he valued at 156 million rubles.

He also owns an Chevrolet Blazer sport-utility vehicle, which he values at 112 million rubles.
