Cambodia Peace Deal

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia -- Cambodian Second Prime Minister Hun Sen rejected a peace proposal by Khmer Rouge guerrillas Friday, but suggested he would support a wider deal if it included the handover of rebel leader Pol Pot. Hun Sen said a three-point agreement expected to be announced by the rebels was "unacceptable'' because it failed to dissolve the group's political and military structure.

The agreement was negotiated on behalf of Hun Sen's rival in the coalition government, First Prime Minister Prince Norodom Ranariddh.

It calls for the Khmer Rouge to stop backing the rebel government and army put in place by Pol Pot, and to support Cambodia's constitution and King Norodom Sihanouk.
