'Flipper' Dolphin Dies

MIAMI, Florida -- The last of seven dolphins who starred in "Flipper," the wholesome 1960s television series, has died, according to officials at the Miami Seaquarium.

Bebe, a female Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, died last week at age 40 after giving birth to Echo, her eighth calf, last year.

Dolphins usually live between 25 and 35 years.

"Bebe was an outgoing, tough old lady," said Russ Rector, president of the Dolphin Freedom Foundation and one of the trainers who worked with her.
