Expos Wallop Padres With 6 Home Runs

SAN DIEGO, California -- Even the pitcher got into the act as the Montreal Expos exploded for 17 hits, including six home runs, in a 9-3 thumping of the San Diego Padres.

Starting pitcher Jim Bullinger homered and carried a one-hitter into the ninth inning, and Rondell White went 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs to pace the Expos' offensive eruption.

Vladimir Guerrero, Henry Rodriguez and Chris Widger also homered for the Expos.

Bullinger (2-4) gave up one hit over 8 1/3 innings before serving up back-to-back homers to Ken Caminiti and Chris Jones in the ninth. He retired 13 straight batters from the fourth through the eighth inning.

Sterling Hitchcock (2-3) surrendered five runs, including four homers, in 4 1/3 innings to get the loss.

Yankees 13, Royals 5. Red hot Tino Martinez belted two of the Yankees' five home runs on Sunday to lead a 19-hit attack that propelled New York to a 13-5 walloping of the Kansas City Royals.

Martinez went 4-for-5. He smacked a solo homer in the third inning off Glendon Rusch (2-2) and added a two-run shot off Jeff Montgomery in the eighth.
