Alumina Plant Tender

KIEV () -- Ukraine's government plans to sell a 28 percent stake in the Mykolayiv alumina plant to local and foreign strategic investors, a senior plant official said Monday.

Plant commercial director Valery Agafonov said the government was also likely to transfer its residual 25.1 percent stake in the plant to the management of the company's managers, but would retain ownership.

According to the privatization plan 25.1 percent of the sole Ukrainian alumina plant would remain in government hands and earlier President Leonid Kuchma had promised to transfer this stake to the plant's authorities.

The government plan also envisages selling 9.62 percent to Ukrainian citizens for privatization certificates and 37.28 percent stake will be sold to the plant's workers and managers. No date for the tender has yet been set.
