Doctors' Hunger Strike

NAKHODKA, Far East () -- Seven doctors who haven't been paid since January were in the fourth day of a hunger strike Thursday, the latest such protest by Russian workers demanding their pay.

The doctors, who work for an ambulance service in Nakhodka in the Russian Far East, were still working but were showing signs of failing health, Itar-Tass said.

The six women and one man had difficulty getting up from their cots on Thursday, Itar-Tass reported.

Eight people started the hunger strike Monday. They occupied one of the ambulance service offices and said they would not eat until the service's entire staff of 180 started receiving their salaries.
