Court Orders Apology

MOSCOW () -- A local Moscow district court has ordered ultranationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky to apologize for calling a top government official a CIA agent, a news report said Saturday.

The RTR TV network said the court ordered Zhirinovsky -- a former presidential candidate known for his colorful off-the-cuff remarks -- to formally retract the statements made in a November 1994 session of the State Duma, parliament's lower house.

During the session, Zhirinovsky accused Sergei Stepashin, former director of Russia's Federal Counterintelligence Service, of being an agent for the CIA and Israel's Mossad, RTR Russian television said.
