Mystical Cricket Cup

NEW DELHI, India -- India's best-known Hindu mystic plans to celebrate his 72nd birthday in November by bringing together the world's top cricket stars for a one-day match.

Satya Sai Baba, the frizzy-haired mystic whose devotees include the rich and powerful from around the world, will hold the match at his sprawling hermitage near Bangalore in southern India.

A sports field at Puttaparti, where the mystic resides, is being turned into an international cricket facility for the match, a spokesman for Baba's multimillion dollar trust said. An Indian team will clash with a select world XI for the specially-designed $85,000 gold trophy, said the spokesman, adding he hoped the match would become an

annual affair.
