Major Building Loan

MOSCOW -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will lend $20.1 million over nearly eight years to a Greek-Russian joint venture that produces animal feed, the EBRD said Tuesday.

The loan will enable AO Athina-Volga, based in Volgograd, to complete construction of a sunflower oil processing plant, slaughterhouse and meat processing plant, as well as to modernize an animal feed mill.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $57.5 million, for which Athina-Volga will provide the balance.

Athina-Volga was established in 1991 as a joint venture between Greece's Meton-Etep group and the Volgograd local authority, said the EBRD.
