Skirting a No-Left-Turn Rule

The small part of Prospekt Vernadskogo around the Universitet metro station is famous to Moscow drivers, who are not allowed to make left turns directly from this road. To get there quickly you should remember two small tricks to help you in these scenarios:

1. You're driving down Prospekt Vernadskogo from downtown and want to turn left to get to Leninsky Prospekt. You should stay in the right lane and keep to the "small road" on the right side after the intersection with Lomonosovsky Prospekt.

Drive straight on to the first traffic light and turn left on Ulitsa Stroiteley, crossing the "main road" of Prospekt Vernadskogo. Drive through this street to the intersection with Leninsky Prospekt.

2. You're driving on Prospekt Vernadskogo toward downtown but you want to turn left to Lomonosovsky Prospekt to drive in the direction of Mosfilmovskaya Ulitsa, Kutuzovsky Prospekt. Keep to the right lane again and turn right to a "small road" a hundred meters before the intersection with Lomonosovsky Prospekt.

Keep to the left lane of the small road. The right one only allows you to drive straight on through Prospekt Vernadskogo to downtown.
