Pulkovo Strike Put Off

ST. PETERSBURG () -- Air traffic controllers at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo airport postponed a strike that had been planned for Wednesday after a city court delayed for a month its ruling on the legality of the action.

Even if a strike does occur next month, however, the air traffic controllers' union agreed during Wednesday's meetings with management to hold to a "minimum work order" devised by the city that would effectively keep them working at a full time schedule.

"That effectively means there will be no strike, regardless of the court's ruling a month from now," said union spokesman Alexander Kiligin. Under the city order, the only flights affected would be charter flights not scheduled with authorities before Feb. 5.
