Police Say Finance Blast Was Warning

A bomb blew up under a car belonging to Russia's first deputy finance minister near the Kremlin Monday night, police said. No injuries were reported.

The car, a Saab owned by Andrei Vavilov, was empty and was parked 10 meters from the Finance Ministry building, just 300 meters north of the Kremlin.

Police described the bombing as a likely "warning blast,'' Interfax reported.

The offices of Russia's Constitutional Court and other top government agencies are located on the same street as the Finance Ministry, just behind the GUM department store which is adjacent to Red Square.
