Crash Judge to Moscow

EW DELHI, India () -- An Indian judge probing the worst mid-air collision in aviation history left India on Thursday flying to Russia and Britain to continue his investigations.

Officials said Delhi High Court Judge R. C. Lahoti was visiting Moscow to oversee the decoding of flight data recorders from a Kazakh airliner involved in the Nov. 12 disaster.

Its collision with a Saudiair Boeing 747 near New Delhi left 349 dead.

Lahoti will be in Moscow for five days before leaving for London to supervise the decoding of the Saudi aircraft's recorders.Wrangling over the flight data recorders has slowed down the enquiry, with both Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia demanding they should be decoded outside India.
